From COREDO Muromachi, which is bustling with customers at lunchtime regardless of whether it's a weekday or a holiday, we've selected lunch menus priced at "under 1,500 yen" that are perfect for everyday use while also offering a touch of luxury.

  • Enjoy freshly fried kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) set meal KUSHI TEI

Deep-fried skewers set meal (5 skewers): 1,430 yen (tax included)

KUSHI TEI, located on 4F of COREDO Muromachi 1, you can enjoy freshly fried skewers prepared by skilled chefs in a sophisticated and tranquil setting.

Lunch sets are broadly divided into three types: pork cutlet, beef cutlet, and deep-fried skewers. You can also order the more luxurious deep-fried skewers lunch course or the chef's choice course, which is the same as the dinner menu.

Among their offerings, the "Kushiage Gozen" (deep-fried skewers set meal) is highly recommended, with three options: "5 skewers," "Special Selection (7 skewers)," and "Luxury (7 skewers)." This time, I tried the 5-skewer set, which costs under 1,500 yen.

The set includes rice, miso soup, a small side dish, salad, and five skewers of deep-fried food. The rice is topped with homemade furikake (rice seasoning), and refills are free!

The kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) include shrimp, pork tenderloin, beef cutlet, seasonal fresh fish, and seasonal vegetables. On this particular day, the fresh fish and vegetables were smelt and deep-fried new onions. The menu changes with the seasons, so it's exciting to visit every time.

The secret to their kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) lies in using 100% healthy vegetable oil and fresh breadcrumbs. The breadcrumbs stand up nicely, resulting in a crispy texture that is surprisingly light and refined. The aftertaste is refreshing, and there's no greasiness. As you eat, you'll find yourself wanting more, and it's not uncommon for customers to order several more skewers.

We also have a reasonably priced Kids set (770 yen (tax included)), so it's recommended for families!

  • A truly delicious dashi bowl set meal | Nihonbashi Dashiba Hanare

    fig

Dashi-wan Gozen (Classic) 1,210 yen (tax included)

Nihonbashi Dashiba Hanare, located on the 1st floor of COREDO Muromachi 2, is run by Ninben, a long-established specialty store for dried bonito flakes. It is a Japanese dining restaurant where you can savor the profound culture of "dashi," a traditional Japanese food made from dried bonito flakes.

For lunch, they offer a limited-quantity "Dashi Beef Sukiyaki Set Meal," "Seasonal Dashi Rice Set Meal," and a well-balanced "One Soup, Three Dishes Set Meal." This time, I had the "Dashi Soup Set Meal," which was packed with ingredients.

The set meal features a dashi soup bowl as the main dish, along with rice, side dishes, and pickles. Three kinds of side dishes are served in small bowls; on this day, they were dried daikon radish, simmered hijiki seaweed, and okara (soy pulp), all with a simple yet delicious flavor enhanced by the dashi broth. You can also get a large serving of rice for free, and add as much bonito flakes as you like from the table.

Dashi-wan Gozen (Hanare) 1,210 yen (tax included)

You can choose from two types of dashi bowls: the classic "Classic" which makes the most of the umami of the dashi, and the "Hanare" which brings out a new charm of the dashi.

The menu changes four times a year depending on the season. This spring's classic dish is "Clear Soup with Clam Dumplings and Seaweed," while the annex's special is "Spicy Wonton Soup." Both dishes feature a fragrant broth made with high-quality dried bonito flakes and are filled with a variety of ingredients.

The "Clear Soup with Clam Dumplings and Seaweed" contains clam dumplings, seaweed, konjac, daikon radish, carrots, and shiitake mushrooms, offering a unique yet delicious taste that evokes the traditions of Japanese cuisine.

The "Spicy Wonton Soup" contains wontons, wood ear mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, carrots, bamboo shoots, and onions, and is finished in a soy sauce base flavored with black sesame oil and Shaoxing wine.

Enjoy our "Dashi Bowl Set Meal," which will satisfy both your stomach and your soul.

  • Pork steak set meal that will make you want to eat too much rice | CRAFT BEER MARKET

    fig

Pork steak set meal: 1,100 yen (tax included)

CRAFT BEER MARKET, located on the 1st floor of COREDO Muromachi 3, offers a wide selection of craft beers from all over Japan. True to its reputation as a place that pairs craft beer with Japanese cuisine, the restaurant also features a variety of Japanese-inspired dishes on its lunch menu.

All menu items are served as a set with sixteen-grain rice, miso soup, a small side dish, and a salad, but the miso soup is particularly noteworthy. The ingredients include shimeji mushrooms, daikon radish, carrots, burdock root, pumpkin, broccoli, cauliflower, and taro. You rarely see miso soup with so many ingredients at lunchtime. It's a welcome point for those who don't get enough vegetables in their diet.

For the main course that day, I chose "Tonteki," which features thickly sliced pork loin coated in a rich, garlicky sauce. Its punchy flavor makes it incredibly addictive with rice, and it's easy to see why it's the most popular dish among men. You can also get a large portion of rice for an extra 100 yen (tax included), so I highly recommend it!

Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) naturally pairs perfectly with beer, but since it's only available as part of a set course at dinner, it feels a little more special, which is a nice bonus.

  • First come, first served! Extremely popular hamburger | CRAFTROCK BREWPUB & LIVE

    fig

Teppanyaki Demiglace Hamburg Steak: ¥1,480 (tax included) *On holidays, it is offered for ¥1,680 (tax included) with a drink.

Located on the 1st floor of COREDO Muromachi Terrace, "CRAFTROCK BREWPUB & LIVE" is a spacious establishment with an attached craft beer brewery where you can enjoy freshly brewed homemade beer and handcrafted American cuisine.

This restaurant is quite spacious within COREDO Muromachi and has plenty of seating, making it relatively easy to get a table even during lunchtime. It's also a great option for lunch with a large group!

For lunch, they offer a wide variety of hearty and satisfying dishes, mainly meat-based. The most popular item is the 100% beef hamburger steak. It comes with corn, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and tomatoes as side dishes, and is served with rice or bread and soup.

    fig

The hamburger patty is thick and juicy, and at approximately 200g, it's quite substantial! Contrary to its heavy appearance, it's surprisingly light and fluffy with a smooth texture when you bite into it.

Since the inside is cooked rare, it's fun to sear it on a hot stone and finish cooking it to your liking. This style isn't very common overseas, so it seems to be popular with foreign customers as well.

The sauce is a homemade demi-glace sauce packed with the rich flavors of red wine and veal stock. The hamburger patty itself is seasoned with salt, nutmeg, and a hint of Worcestershire sauce, so every bite is delicious.

The only downside is that their hamburgers are available in limited quantities and apparently sell out almost every day. They say you have a better chance of ordering one if you visit before 12:30 pm, so be sure to try going early!

  • Luxurious udon noodles with plenty of toppings | Iinoji

    fig

Iinoji Udon: 1,400 yen (tax included)

Iinoji, a Japanese restaurant on the 1st floor of COREDO Muromachi Terrace, offers a variety of spaces where you can enjoy a meal at your leisure, including a food stall counter, tables, and private rooms. For lunch, they offer set meals featuring fish and meat, as well as udon noodles.

The dish we're introducing today is the restaurant's signature dish, "Iinoji Udon." It's a luxurious udon dish packed with toppings, including Kyoto-style fried tofu (a purveyor to Nanzenji Temple in Kyoto), satsuma-age (fried fish cake), aonori seaweed, Kujo green onions, kelp, and even egg omelet, so much so that the noodles are almost completely hidden.

    fig

Our udon noodles are made with 100% domestically produced wheat and served freshly boiled. The broth, carefully prepared using only dried sardines from Nagasaki Prefecture and domestically produced kelp, is full of umami yet has a clean and gentle flavor.

Each ingredient, such as the elegant Kyoto-style fried tofu and the flavorful sea lettuce, has its own distinct character, yet they harmonize wonderfully with the broth.

Another delightful feature is the "kayaku gohan" (mixed rice) served alongside the udon. And what's more, refills are free! It's just as delicious as the udon, easily a main dish in itself, and would make for a very satisfying lunch. Enjoy a full and happy lunch!
