On Friday, October 7th, the first Bilingual Variety Show - Rakugo, Tsugaru Shamisen, and Nankin Tamasudare - will be held at Fukutoku Garden Suigian.
Rakugo is a traditional Japanese storytelling art that has been passed down for 400 years since the Edo period and is still loved by many people today.
Until recently, rakugo was thought to be something that could only be performed in Japanese and could not be understood without knowledge of Japanese culture and life in the Edo period.
However, as interest in Japanese culture grows around the world, manga based on rakugo have been translated into various languages, and there are now many voices expressing their desire to watch rakugo.
We at Suigian and the English Rakugo Association hope to break down language barriers and allow more people around the world to experience traditional performing arts such as rakugo.
This time, you will be able to enjoy a "bilingual vaudeville show" in both Japanese and English, consisting of Rakugo and Iromono (Tsugaru Shamisen and Nankin Tamasudare).
Don't miss this opportunity to experience innovative cultural entertainment that can be enjoyed by both foreigners and Japanese people.
