For a limited time from Friday, August 1st to Sunday, November 2nd, the wooden parts of the K Chair will be available in Japanese wild cherry and water eye wood!

Karimoku 60 brand is running a project to offer a limited edition K Chair made from domestic timber as part of its efforts to protect Japan's forests and contribute to the maintenance and development of the forestry industry.
Following on from the first release which featured cork, and the second release which featured elm, keyaki, maple and chestnut, this time too you can enjoy new tree species that have the unique charm and personality of domestic timber.

Yamazakura is a deciduous broadleaf tree of the genus Prunus in the family Rosaceae that has grown natively in Japan for a long time.
Due to its beautiful grain, excellent durability, and ease of workability, it has long been highly regarded in Japan as a furniture material.
You can enjoy the dense wood grain and its unique changes over time. The grain is very dense and uniform, resulting in a smooth surface that feels good to the touch.

Mizume is a deciduous broadleaf tree of the Betulaceae family, Betulaceae, and is distributed in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu.
The wood has fine grain and narrow vessels, giving it a very smooth surface to the touch, and you can enjoy the grain and graceful changes that occur over time.

Please come to our store and experience the unique K Chair, which is made from domestic materials.

<About domestic timber>
We often hear that deforestation is a global problem, but did you know that Japan's forest area has remained almost the same since 1966, and that it remains a forest-rich country, accounting for 70% of the country's land area? However, Japan is now facing a problem in which it is unable to manage its forests, causing mountains to become barren, and environmental problems and natural disasters are beginning to occur. Appropriate thinning of mountains allows sunlight to reach the surface, which in turn allows plants and animals to flourish and maintain a healthy state. In this project, we will use such domestic timber for furniture, and by raising awareness of its quality and value among many people, we hope to improve Japan's forest environment in the future.
