A famous kelp store
This shop specializes in high-quality kelp and is headquartered in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture. It was founded in 1871. Since the middle of the Meiji era, it has been a supplier to Eiheiji Temple, the head temple of the Soto sect of Buddhism, and from the Taisho era to the beginning of the Showa era, it began doing business with high-class restaurants in Kyoto, including Kitaoji Rosanjin, and has continued to protect its reputation as a high-quality kelp storehouse. It is particularly famous for its "Kurai Konbu," which is made from natural Rishiri kelp harvested from Rebun Island and Rishiri Island in Hokkaido, which is aged in a special kelp storehouse for two to three years to enhance its flavor.
