3 souvenirs from COREDO Muromachi that you can bring home as gifts
- Mr. Terashima, you have appeared in many productions so far. Is there anything you look out for when choosing gifts to bring to the set?
I think the most important thing is what the recipient likes. I try to gather information about what they like and then give them to them. When I'm giving gifts to a large group of people, I try to choose things that as many people as possible can enjoy.
I think people who are good at giving gifts are really wonderful. There are people who always give me things that are well thought out or that I have never seen before, and I always look forward to receiving gifts from them.
So I want to give gifts that people will be happy to receive, but I tend to give only traditional Japanese sweets. I haven't been keeping my ears open lately, but I try to remember the delicious things I've received.- What are some of the standard gifts you give these days?
I like the chestnut dorayaki sold at a store near my house because they are small and easy to eat. If they are too big, it doesn't feel like something you can eat between work breaks.
-This time, we asked you to choose three souvenirs from COREDO Muromachi that would make good gifts.
All of them are compact in size, which is nice. They are also individually wrapped, which makes them easy to distribute.<HOSHINO BUTTER> Bean-flavored butter monaka (1 pc.) 324 yen (tax included)
The bean paste and butter is wrapped in gyuhi and sandwiched between the mochi skin just before eating. The crispy skin was fragrant and very delicious.
< TSURUYA YOSHINOBU > Tsubara Tsubara 10 pieces 2,592 yen (tax included)
The skin contains glutinous rice flour, so it was chewy. Dorayaki can be divided into fluffy and chewy types, but I prefer the chewy texture, so this is the texture I prefer.
< PIERRE MARCOLINI > Baked chocolate 7 pieces (4 chocolate pieces/3 raspberry pieces) 3,240 yen (tax included)
PIERRE MARCOLINI is famous, so it's good that it can be easily communicated to many people. Personally, I like chocolate, so I found it appealing.

About his latest film, "Hakkenden"
-- Now, please tell us about the movie "Hakkenden." You played O-Hyaku, the wife of Bakin Takizawa, played by Koji Yakusho, and it was a role with a strong presence.
When I was reading the script, I thought it would be a character with little presence, but people who have seen it often tell me that I gave it quite a good performance.
The filming was done in a condensed time, and two days after filming I would age again, and then two days after that I would age again, and this repeated over and over, so I was constantly worried about whether it would be okay (laughs).- I didn't feel any discomfort when watching. It felt like I had aged naturally without even realizing it. Was there anything you were conscious of when playing the role of Omomo this time?
I think Omomo must have felt lonely. She wanted a normal married life, but her husband was an artist and was absorbed in his work, and in the meantime their son became sickly.
In the end, her daughter-in-law supports her husband's writing after he becomes blind, but I think that this in itself must have been somewhat lonely.
-- That loneliness was expressed in the form of nasty remarks. If you look at it like what we now call tsundere, it can come across as charming.
That's right. That's why I wanted to express other aspects of her that aren't just that of a bad wife.
- Can you tell those who are planning to see it what to look out for?
How does the story of "Hakkenden," which Director Sori (Fumihiko) used a lot of VFX, blend with the real Edo part that we acted in? I thought it was very interesting even when I read the book, and everyone who saw it said it was good and wonderful.
I would be thrilled if you could see this spectacular film in the theater. -
