Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 by Queen Juliane Marie as a porcelain manufacturer for the Danish royal family. For over 240 years, the company has expanded to more than 13 countries around the world, including Europe. The "Blue Fluted" pattern painted on the first dinner Services after the company's opening was given the decoration number "Pattern No. 1" and was highly praised around the world. This pattern, which is said to have originated in China, was further refined by the sensibility influenced by Japonisme of Arnold Klaw, who became artistic director in 1884, and has continued to be used to this day.
