Hello
This is the FLP LaLaport YOKOHAMA branch of the insurance consultation salon.

Typhoon season has finally arrived.
Have you ever worried about whether your fire insurance will cover damage caused by a typhoon, or how much repair costs will be incurred if damage occurs?

Damage to roofs, leaks, and damaged fences caused by typhoons can also be covered by the "wind damage" and "flood damage" sections of your fire insurance!

*General cases covered by insurance for wind and flood damage
◆ Compensation for wind damage
The roof and roof tiles were damaged by the typhoon.
The strong winds caused objects to fly and shattered the exterior walls and windows.
The carport and fence were destroyed by the typhoon.
The roof was damaged by the typhoon, and rain got in and the room got wet.

◆ Flood damage compensation
Heavy rain from the typhoon caused the river to overflow, flooding the house up to the floor level.
Heavy rain from the typhoon caused a landslide, damaging buildings.

So what happens if, for example, a tree on your neighbor's property breaks in a typhoon, causing damage to your home, or if your neighbor's roof breaks, sending tiles flying and damaging your home?
Can I get my neighbor to compensate me?

Under the Civil Code, the owner is generally not liable for anything that is free of defects.
Unless the risk of a tree falling was ignored or tiles were left unattended even though they were already damaged, the situation is considered an act of God, a natural disaster, and the company will not be held liable for compensation.

This is where your own fire insurance comes in handy.
Why not take a moment to check what your fire insurance and insurance company cover for typhoon damage?
