In ancient China, there was a custom of offering the rarest, highest quality tea to the emperor. This was called "tribute tea," or "Gong cha Cha," and was loved by successive emperors. This is the origin of the brand name "Gong cha Cha."
Gong cha was founded in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 2006. It is a global tea brand that currently operates approximately 1,600 stores in over 20 countries and regions around the world. In Japan, it first arrived in 2015 and now has over 100 stores (as of October 2021).
Gong cha uses carefully selected high-quality tea leaves, including those grown in Alishan, Taiwan, a region renowned for its high-quality tea leaves. Tea is carefully brewed in-store every day, with different water temperatures and brewing times for each type of tea. With a focus on aroma and freshness, Gong Cha only serves tea within four hours of brewing.
Along with tea, another of Gong cha 's prized items is its pearls (tapioca). It's said to have been named after the way they shine, resembling black pearls, and they pair perfectly with milk tea. Directly imported from Taiwan, they're carefully prepared in-store several times a day, just like their tea, using a recipe directly from Taiwan. Enjoy Gong cha signature pearls (tapioca), with their distinctive large size, chewy texture, and the soft sweetness of brown sugar.
