Gyumaru is a hamburger specialty store with its main store in Ureshino-cho, Saga Prefecture, founded 40 years ago. Its history began as a small coffee shop. While the current president is busy cooking and serving customers every day, he has built the foundation of Gyumaru as it is today by listening to customer feedback.

Gyumaru's three specialties are hamburger steak, pie soup, and sweet potato buns.

Hamburg steaks have been a popular menu item since the cafe days. The president of the restaurant serves the dishes based on the techniques he learned while working at a Western restaurant, but he always asks customers how they like the taste when paying the bill.

What I learned there is that "no matter how much a chef uses his techniques and ingredients to prepare something, it doesn't necessarily mean that the customer will find it delicious." Rather than serving difficult dishes, I think that customers will be pleased with something that is familiar to the Japanese palate, such as a hamburger steak, and that is easy to judge whether it is delicious or not. In a sense, it can be said that my commitment is to not be too concerned about my pride as a chef.

From there, through trial and error, they refined it into the Gyumaru hamburger steak we know today. By the way, the overflowing meat juice is a distinctive feature of the steak, but this wasn't something they created intentionally; they only realized it one day when a customer mentioned it.

Next is puff pastry soup. As the Ureshino main store is located far from the center of town, we wanted to provide a memorable menu and hospitality for customers who make the effort to come. At that time, we found a recipe for puff pastry soup in a foreign book and improved it in our own way. By making it a corn potage instead of the usual consommé, we were able to create a menu that women and children would also enjoy. It's a fun dish, as you have to think about how to dip the flaky puff pastry into the soup while eating it.

And with the idea of sweet potato weaving as a souvenir for customers, we adapted something we had seen in a Western-style pastry shop at the time and came up with a design using a whole Satsuma potato.

In terms of Services, we value creating memorable experiences for our customers, and we strive to provide friendly, smiling service every day. As a result, we have been able to open more stores in Saga, Nagasaki, and Fukuoka.

We named our first store LaLaport" Gyumaru Classic" because we wanted it to be a shop where you could feel the atmosphere of Gyumaru's origins, the Ureshino main store.
