"Sutadon" is a hearty and filling bowl of rice made by deep-frying pork belly at a low temperature to lock in the flavor, then coating it in a secret garlic soy sauce sauce and frying it all in one go over high heat using expert skill in a wok. The bowl is then served on top of a large portion of rice, the regular size being about the equivalent of three bowls.
"Sutadon" is made with plenty of "pork", which is rich in vitamin B1, which is effective in increasing physical strength and recovering from fatigue, and "garlic", a well-known source of stamina, making it the perfect bowl of food to build up a body that can withstand the cold.
[The history of the "DENSETSU NO SUTADONYA"]
"Sutadon" was created by the founder of Sapporo Ramen Kunitachi, which was established in Kunitachi, Tokyo in 1971, after much trial and error, with the desire to "serve young people full of cheap and tasty food". It was originally conceived as a "staff meal" for employees, but word spread among regular customers and it began to be sold on the ramen shop's menu. Word of mouth eventually spread about the impact of its unparalleled flavor and volume throughout Tokyo's Tama area, and after enthusiastic requests from customers, "Meibutsu Sutadon no Mise" opened, with "Sutadon" as its main product.
The "Meibutsu Sutadon no Mise" opened its first store 23ku of Tokyo in 2004 in Waseda (now relocated and operating as the Takadanobaba store).
Taking advantage of this opportunity, we changed the name of the restaurant to "DENSETSU NO SUTADONYA." The turning point for our company came two years later in 2006, when we opened our Shinagawa store in the Shinagawa Donburi Goninshu under the elevated tracks of the Keihin Kyuko Line. With the success of our store accounting for over 50% of the total sales of the facility, we set our sights on expanding nationwide and overseas.
After that, in 2011, the franchise business was launched and the number of new stores accelerated. Our store, which had only three stores in 1999, expanded mainly in the Kanto region, and then opened stores in Kansai in 2009, Tohoku in 2011, Fukui Prefecture in Hokuriku in 2014, Kumamoto Prefecture, Fukuoka Prefecture, Chugoku Region, Hiroshima Prefecture in Kyushu in 2015, Niigata Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture in 2016, Hokkaido, Gunma Prefecture, Tochigi store in June 2017, and now our first foray into Asahikawa City, with a total of 77 stores currently operating across Japan (as of the end of August 2018).
