The majestic view of the Tateyama mountains range looming 3,000m above Toyama Bay changes with each season and is breathtakingly beautiful. This view was much loved by the Manyo poet Otomo No Yakamochi, who wrote many poems about it. The area stretching from the Amaharashi coast to Matsudae-no-Nagahama in Himi has been designated as “One of Japan's Best 100 White-sand and Green-pine Beaches” and “One of Japan's Best 100 Beaches”. There still exists the Yoshitsune rock, where Minamoto no Yoshitsune waited for a shower to clear up on his way to Oshu. This is also where the name Amaharashi (lit. "rain clearing") came from.

Along with Kairakuen in Mito City and Korakuen in Okayama City, Kenrokuen is one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan, where the characteristics of the "Kaiyurinsen" Style from the Edo Period still remains inside the garden today. Kenrokuen was built by the 5th lord of the Kaga Clan Tsunanori in 1676 (Enbo 3), and it took about 170 years to finish. Kenrokuen, meaning "having six factors", was given the name because of the 6 attributes that bring out the perfect landscape of the garden: spacious, tranquility, artificial, antiquity, water fountains and magnificent view from the mountain. It has many attractions such as the lanterns, Gankobashi Bridge and the Kasumigaike Pond. One can also enjoy the beautiful sceneries of the four seasons such as Cherry blossoms, Iris fields, autumn foliage and Yukitsuri.

There are four hot spring areas: Yamanaka, with its spectacular views of Kakusenkei Gorge; Yamashiro, popular with artists and writers; Katayamazu, with its vistas of the Hakusan range beyond Lake Shibayamagata; and Awazu, a popular mecca for lovers. Blessed with the bounty of land and sea, the region carries on the refined cultural traditions of the ancient Kaga Domain.
This is a railway that offers a one-way nature trip for 1 hour and 20 minutes in a trolley train. Enjoy the seasonal variety of fresh greenery in spring, clear waters in summer and vivid leaves in autumn. Traverse nature through tunnels and across bridges. The journey reveals magnificent views, such as the 60m high arch bridge over the Kuronagi River, the hidden open-air bath of Kanetsuri hot spring and tinted autumnal leaves. On the way you can rest and eat at Kanetsuri Station and Keyakidaira Station, which both have restaurants and omiyage gift shops. Relax and enjoy the glorious nature of the Kurobe Gorge for a day.

Located at the entrance to the Kurobe Gorge, this is the largest hot spring village in Toyama Prefecture. It has been visited by many writers and poets since it was opened in 1923. Said to be the most transparent in Japan, the spring’s colourless and transparent hot waters that evoke the clear water of the Kurobe River are good for the skin. They warm the body from inside.
We recommend a relaxed morning of shopping at the outlet mall's 173 shops; the fifty-meter-high Ferris wheel next to the mall offers excellent entertainment value
