SHONAN TREE HOUSE EVENT REPORT
[September] Create your own original items with silkscreen printing
We would like to share with you a report on the Shops, "Create your own original items with silkscreen printing," held for just two days on September 18th (Sunday) and September 19th (Monday, national holiday)!
If you bring a T-shirt or an eco-bag, anyone can experience silkscreen printing for free and create their own original items. It's such a great event!
The instructor was Luise Ono, an artist from Hiratsuka City!
He is an artist well known among Hiratsuka residents, having worked on wrapping the escalators at Hiratsuka Station, and designing local license plates and marriage registration forms.
At LaLaport SHONAN HIRATSUKA, she was involved in the mural in front of the north exit bus rotary, the flag design within the building, and the logo for our anniversary festival, and we are always energized by her vibrant art.
First, start by choosing the design you want to print!
There are several different designs available, so you can choose the one you like.
An acrylic sample sheet was layered on top of the fabric to make it easier to visualize!
Next, choose your ink color.
Even with the same design, the atmosphere of the picture changes drastically depending on the color, so it's hard to choose...!
You can use two colors to create a gradation effect, or there's a mysterious ink called Mokomoko ink that creates a three-dimensional effect...it seems like it can be quite complicated once you start getting into it!
Once the design and ink are decided, a thin board is placed under the T-shirt or eco bag to remove any wrinkles. The position of the design is then finalized after adjusting it so that the fabric does not move.
If there are multiple images on one screen, use masking tape to cover the other images so that the ink only passes through to the part of the image you want to print.
Before placing the ink, Louise will give us a lesson on how to use the spatula!
For small children who have difficulty controlling their strength, they gently supported them by holding their hands.
I was nervous but I put it into practice just as I had practiced!
The ink is evenly distributed and the image stands out beautifully!
Lift the screen up...
The sunflowers drawn by Louise came out beautifully in a print!
The pink sunflowers look stylish on a white T-shirt.
After printing, let it dry for 30 minutes to an hour.
Finally, use a hair dryer to make sure it's completely dry and then it's done!
Everyone printed very beautifully!
Just adding Louise's picture makes it a very stylish item♪
It was fun to see how the atmosphere changed depending on the combination of fabric color and ink color!
Some children immediately went home wearing the finished products, and it was clear to see how happy they were!
Use lots of your own original items and show them off to everyone!
[About washing]
▽
Silkscreen ink is water-based, but it is durable enough that it can be washed in a washing machine without any problems. However, depending on the laundry you do with it, it may fade or crack, so if you want it to last longer, it is best to wash it inside out in a laundry net.
(Please note that bleach is strictly prohibited.)
