SHONAN TREE HOUSE EVENT REPORT

SHONAN TREE HOUSE EVENT REPORT

1/26 (Sun) [Experimental Course] Let's make a balanced motor!

An experiment course event was held by the science club at Hiratsuka Municipal Koyo Junior High School.
This experiment course is held every month at SHONAN TREE HOUSE and is very popular.
This time, we will introduce "Let's make a balance motor!", which explores the secrets of magnets and batteries!

The event was run solely by first and second year students, in place of the third year students who were preparing for entrance exams.
Although he was nervous, he did a great job hosting the event!
Thank you to all the participants for your kind support!

Four types of experiments were conducted at each table in turn.
This is an experiment called "Playing with iron sand with magnets." A whole lot of iron sand was stuck to a donut-shaped magnet!
The kids were fascinated by the iron sand that looked like moles.

In the "Playing with a compass and iron sand" experiment, children play by bringing a compass close to iron sand contained in a transparent case.
There is a hole in the center of the case, and when you insert a compass it changes into various patterns!

The third place is "fishing with a magnet."
Make a fishing rod by tying a line to a chopstick and attaching a magnet to the end.
Attach a paper clip to the paper with the picture of a fish on it and you're ready to go!
Just like the toys you played with as a child, you can enjoy fishing with magnets.

By connecting a battery and copper wire, the propellers will spin, the light bulb will light up, and sound will play.
The children experienced the various secrets of dry cell batteries.

And finally, we will get to the main topic, making a "balance motor."

Wrap aluminum around a magnet and combine it with a dry cell!
Next, bend the wire so that it matches the shape shown on the template.

Twist the ends of the copper wire neatly with pliers.
This is the part that will come into contact with the battery!

Place the screw on a battery and attach the loop to a magnet...

It started to spin around the battery!
It's hard to tell from the photo, but it's easy to make at home, so if you're interested, give it a try!

The Eyo Junior High School Science Club holds experiment events every month, so we look forward to your participation.
You can check out the events and campaigns on LaLaport SHONAN HIRATSUKA website, or on the Koyo Junior High School Science Department website.
