SHONAN TREE HOUSE EVENT REPORT
2018/04/28(Sat) Making glowing muddy dumplings
The craftsmanship workshop "Shonan Mura" hosted an event to make "glowing muddy dumplings" using natural materials.
It was a very valuable Shops where we could learn while having fun, hosted by craftsmen involved in building Japanese homes!
On the day, there were a great many people who wanted to participate, and many were unable to attend.
Although we are very saddened by this, we would like to share with you some photos from the hugely successful event, as well as the wonderful finished products!
The lecturer was Yasuhiko Yamamoto, CEO of Wise Co., Ltd., a general construction company.
Three craftsmen, led by Mr. Yamamoto, a first-class architect, supported everyone!
Shonan Village offers a range of "useful Shops" where people of all ages and genders can have fun while learning, from crafts using locally produced soil and wood to seminars that will be useful in building homes and living in the future.
First, each prepared dumpling is shaped into a nice round shape using a special dumpling scraper.
Apparently, this tool is an original created by a craftsman specifically for making dumplings!
The instructor, Mr. Yamamoto, carefully taught each child the tricks, and even small children were able to make beautiful circles.
A small dustpan was provided for each person, and the participants cleaned up after themselves...!
Next, choose your favorite color from five different colors and rub it into your palms to apply the color.
The earth colours on display as samples were very popular!
After painting one color, let it dry in the jar and then repeat the process of mixing other colors.
This coloring is also made from natural sand, so it is safe for small children to use.
After coloring, we move on to the task of giving the dumplings a glossy finish!
Press the top of a small bottle against the dumpling and rub it all over...
Stop when you hear a "click" sound.
In addition, you can put it in a plastic bag and rub it to give it a beautiful glossy finish.
Once you get it home, rub it with plastic wrap morning and night for three days and it's done.
It's not quite finished yet, but it's already shining beautifully!
Boys, girls, and adults alike were fascinated by the fun of freely combining their favorite colors and creating things with natural materials!
The mud balls are made from local natural materials and would make a lovely interior decoration.
