"LaLaport EBINA presents Snow Play Event"
~This year marks the 10th anniversary of Ebina's midsummer tradition~

An event that brings natural snow from Yamakoshi, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture to Ebina City, Kanagawa Prefecture, to children to enjoy playing in the snow in the middle of summer. LaLaport EBINA presents  "Snow Playtime" will be held.
"Wow, it's cold!" "It's real snow!" Every year, the venue is filled with the cheers of children. It's the magic that is born the moment when snow that has been sleeping quietly all winter in the heavy snowfall region of Niigata travels 280km and arrives in Ebina in the middle of summer. In July, when the sweltering heat continues, a cool "snow oasis" will appear again this year at the west exit of Ebina Station.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Ebina's midsummer tradition, LaLaport EBINA presents  "Play in the snow." With snow play becoming a rare experience due to climate change, enjoy the ultimate cool and extraordinary experience of "playing in the snow in the middle of summer" with your whole family.

■ Where did this snow come from? ~The secret of natural snow that travels 280km~
- The snow used is pure and beautiful snow that fell in Yamakoshi, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, one of Japan's leading heavy snowfall areas.
Amazing Japanese ingenuity! "Yukimuro" (snow storage room): Using ancient wisdom that doesn't require electricity, snow is carefully stored until summer.

■What is "Yuki de Asobina"? ~We want to share the joy of playing in the snow with many children~
More than half of Japan's land area is a heavy snowfall region, and its snow quality, known as "JAPOW," is a valuable resource loved around the world. In the past, even in the Tokyo metropolitan area, people would encounter snow on a daily basis during winter, fostering a longing for winter resorts. However, due to the serious effects of global warming, snow is now becoming a distant memory for children in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Since 2014, Yuki de Asobina has been held as an event that finds new value in snow, which is often considered a "nuisance" in winter, and brings natural snow to Ebina in the middle of summer.
This project goes beyond mere entertainment and has the following three important significances:
A solution to extreme heat: In response to the record-breaking heat waves of recent years, we offer "coolness" and "a sense of escape from the ordinary" using natural snow, without relying on electrical energy.
Sustainable resource utilization: This sustainable initiative utilizes natural snow stored in snow cellars, minimizing environmental impact while returning the potential of snow to society.
Bridging the gap in experiences for the next generation: We aim to convey the joy of playing outdoors to children in urban areas and stimulate their interest in Japan's abundant snow resorts, which are just a few hours away.
Based on our belief in transforming snow, a valuable resource of Japan, into an extraordinary summer experience, we will create new value for snow and connect it to Japan's future.
