[Yokohama] This year's most popular new spots.
A seaside trip in the popular Kanazawa area ♡

Yokohama is bustling with tourists all year round. While Motomachi Chinatown and Minato Mirai are popular, did you know that the seaside Kanazawa area is also attracting attention? With the much-talked-about outlet mall opening in April 2020, Kanazawa has been named as a top destination for outings. This time, we'll change things up from the "usual Yokohama" and propose a simulation of a seaside trip you'll want to visit in April.

1. Leave by car! Go on a day trip along the sea♪

The lovely weather has invited me to take a short trip to Yokohama with my family this weekend.
The season has finally come when you can enjoy trips to the seaside.

This HA行we ventured further than the familiar Minato Mirai area and headed to the Kanazawa seaside area.
The first destination is Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, a perfect place for leisure!
I'm looking forward to seeing the sea sparkling in the spring sunshine.

"Ah, I can see it!"
Everyone gets excited as they see the ocean in the distance.

2. Arrive at Hakkeijima Sea Paradise!

About an hour's drive from Tokyo, we arrived at Hakkeijima Sea Paradise!
As soon as you get out of the car, the smell of the sea wafts through the air, and your heart will start beating fast.

The first thing that impressed me when I entered AMUSEUM was the gigantic aquarium at LABO5!
We were overwhelmed by the sight, as if we had been lost in the ocean.

The sight of the 50,000 sardines swimming by and the light reflecting off them is fantastical and mysterious.
It reminded me of the underwater world I read about in a Japanese textbook a long time ago.

After enjoying the "underwater walk," I wanted to get a closer look at the sea creatures.
There are many programs here that allow you to interact with the iconic beluga whales.
The children were excited to see a beluga whale for the first time!

The commemorative photo you take while touching the beluga whale's forehead is sure to become a memorable memory of your seaside trip.

3. Enjoy shopping at MITSUI OUTLET PARK YOKOHAMA BAYSIDE!

Next, we headed to a place where we could do some window shopping and sightseeing at the same time.
Leaving Hakkeijima behind, our next destination was MITSUI OUTLET PARK YOKOHAMA BAYSIDE.
This opened in April 2020.
It's a popular spot to enjoy shopping, dining, and experience events at the beach,

I want to find my favorite shop!

4. Before that, have a late lunch with a hamburger to fill your hungry stomach.

Before enjoying shopping, we decided to have lunch first!

I was starving so I chose a hamburger.
It's very filling and will completely recharge your energy.

5. Start shopping! Find your favorite items from the many stores available ♡

I realized again today that I really aspire to live a life close to the sea.
I'll buy some sea-related souvenirs to take home.
For example, interior design that the whole family can see might be good.

Still, it's so spacious.
When the kids saw the courtyard space, they seemed excited and wanted to run out (laughs).
The experiential event I saw earlier looked interesting, so I think I'd enjoy coming here for a whole day next time.

6. Enjoy the ever-changing scenery at Yokohama Bayside Marina

I found an item I liked and finished shopping safely♪
Maybe because we'd been walking around, the husband and child were grumbling, "We're getting hungry" (laughs).
Did you know? The food court and restaurants here have terrace seating facing the marina.
"Oh, that's nice, let's go there." We all decided to go to the food court.

When we arrived, what spread out before us was a magnificent sunset painting the entire arena.
The child can't help but let out a little cry of joy, "Wow!"

I casually snapped the moment when the two of them stepped out onto the terrace and their profiles were bathed in orange.
May you cherish this moment forever in your heart.

7. End the day with dinner on the bayside terrace with a view

The fun day came to an end in a flash.
Still reluctant to leave the seaside scenery behind, we decided to have dinner at Miguel y Juani, a seaside restaurant that specializes in paella.
Another attraction of this outlet is that you can dine at a table overlooking one of the largest marinas in Asia.

The authentic Valencian paella served with an ocean view is exquisite.

"Today was fun," said the child, looking satisfied. I, who suggested this trip, felt happy too.
Let's come again to make memories.

Discovering a new way to visit Yokohama on a day trip around the seaside

When I think of Yokohama, I think of Motomachi Chinatown and Minato Mirai, but I never knew there were such wonderful hidden gems just a little further away.
The outlet park has also opened, and it looks like things are going to get even more exciting from now on.
I'm sure it will be even more pleasant in the coming season. I'll add it to my list of weekend trip destinations.
