This stitching method has a chain-like pattern on the reverse side. When washed, the thread shrinks, causing the seams to tighten. The difference in shrinkage between the thread and the fabric creates a twisting effect known as puckering.

The puckering created by washing results in an uneven texture. Because the raised areas are prone to friction, white areas called "fading" appear. These fading marks give the jeans a unique, well-worn look. Recommended for those who enjoy the changes that occur as they wear their jeans!
