  • Updated 03/21 | Event Exhibition Event
The 40th "Meets GEIBUN" exhibition is
"GEIBUN ARCHITECTURE Exhibition vol.5 | Connecting People and Reclaimed Wood - The Practice of 'Himi Reclaimed Wood KNOTWORK'".

The Yusuke Yabutani Laboratory at the Faculty of Arts and Culture, Toyama University, together with KOPPE (a bread company), Higashi Kogyo, and the Fumitoku Nosaku Laboratory at Tokyo University of Science and Tokyo Metropolitan University, has launched "Himi Old Timber KNOTWORK".
We are working to rescue old materials such as floorboards, fixtures, and structural timbers from traditional houses that were forced to be demolished by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, and to connect them to the next users through storage and sales.
This exhibition showcases stools, lighting fixtures, chairs, and musical instruments created by different artists using reclaimed wood that has been passed down through generations.
It possesses not only the inherent appeal of the material itself, but also the memories of the region and the history of the people's lives.
Inheriting and continuing to use old materials is also an attempt to reconnect people with each other, and land with the future.
Discover the new possibilities that reclaimed wood can open up.
