August 19th is Haiku Day!
Haiku poets, including Masaoka Shiki scholar and haiku poet Tsubouchi Toshinori, have designated this day as Haiku Day, based on the wordplay of "ha(8)i(1)ku(9)".
Therefore, this time I will introduce a hanging scroll depicting Murasaki Shikibu, whose name is often used as a seasonal word in haiku.

The hanging scroll in the photograph is a richly evocative depiction of "Moon Viewing at Ishiyama-dera Temple," created by Tosa Mitsuoki, an Edo period painter.
While preserving the traditional scenery, this piece was hand-painted by Kazuya Terada of the Maruyama-Shijo school, offering a unique perspective on "The Tale of Genji."
