"100-year Down" initiative to realize a circular economy

In this article, we will introduce the SDGs Action of SN NISHIKAWA, a tenant of MITSUI OUTLET PARK SAPPORO KITAHIROSHIMA. We asked the store manager, Mr. Hasegawa, about the "100-year down initiative" that will help create a recycling society.

Beyond a good night's sleep. The ultimate commitment to craftsmanship

SN NISHIKAWA, the only directly managed store in Hokkaido, was founded in 1566 and is a long-established bedding brand with a history of 456 years. As we enter an era where people can live to be 100 years old, interest in sleep has increased in recent years and the market size has expanded. The brand continues to provide customers with a good night's sleep through unique product development, including the Muatsu futon, an unparalleled long-selling product that has been around for 50 years, and the original high-quality, low-cost brand CUORE, which can only be purchased at directly managed stores. The brand "Futon no Nishikawa" that we see every day is actually made up of two companies, Nishikawa Co., Ltd. and Showa Nishikawa Co., Ltd. SN NISHIKAWA we interviewed this time is Showa Nishikawa, and the initials SN are used to distinguish them.

Effective use of limited resources with 100-year-old feathers

The world is changing from a consumer society to a recycling society. Eco-conscious terms such as LOHAS and Ethical are everywhere, and the realization of a sustainable society has become the goal of humanity. Showa Nishikawa has focused on feathers and developed the 100-Year Feather Premium Series. Feathers emit nearly twice their weight in carbon dioxide when burned, but by maintaining them and using them for a long time, they become a recycled resource that does not put a burden on the environment.

They also started a premium maintenance Services, which is carried out in a specialized factory with advanced processing technology. Not only do they wash each duvet individually, but they also quilt them to prevent them from shifting and fill them with high-quality down, restoring them to a state where they can be used for a long time, aiming to make effective use of limited resources.

Connecting comfortable sleep to the future

We want everyone to have a better tomorrow. In order to continue being a company that "contributes to the promotion of health and good sleep" for our stakeholders, we are passing on our beloved products from parents to the next generation for 100 years to come. We were also very IN by the commitment to manufacturing that is kind to people and the environment, and the customer service of the staff at the Kitahiroshima store, who are considerate to each individual's sleep.

Thank you, Hasegawa-san, for your valuable story!
