Books create connections with the community
A free library created by everyone
2021/11/6

On Saturday, November 6, 2021, Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport TACHIKAWA TACHIHI held the "BookSwap: A Free Library Made by Everyone" event, which was inspired by the NHK Educational TV program "Support! Everyone's Challenge," for the first time in a commercial facility. Since then, the event has been held at other LaLaport facilities.
Circulate books and expand communication.

When it became difficult to use libraries and bookstores due to the spread of COVID-19, Sara Kumagai, a book-loving junior high school student living in Chofu City, started an initiative to start this event. In addition to donating books that they no longer read, people can take home their favorite books, and they can also send messages about their impressions and thoughts on the books to the next readers, creating small interactions through books.
A heartwarming event that connects local people
As SDGs activities have become more popular, many people have become aware of the importance of taking care of things and recycling and reusing. This event is not just about reusing books, but also features local volunteers, picture book readings, and Kamishibai (paper theater) performances, and is being undertaken as an event that connects the diverse customers who gather at LaLaport.
It is scheduled to be held next autumn or later.
